Daily Spread Betting Round-up
The international break in football traditionally signals a lull in online betting, but our canny punters found some big winning bets over the weekend.
Super League finally has a new winner as Hull KR secured a famous treble on Saturday night when they beat Wigan Warriors. Avenging their defeat from 12 months ago against the same opposition, Rovers took full advantage after Wigan spurned two early opportunities.
Leading 10-2 at the break, the Craven Park side never looked back, and Joe Burgess’ late intercept try put the icing on the cake as the Robins ran out 24-6 winners at Old Trafford. Their 18-point winning margin was the biggest since 2017 when Leeds beat Castleford by the same scoreline and it was great news for buyers on our Winning Margin x Total Points spread at 269-328.
With 30 points scored and a winning margin of 18, the market settled at 540 with buyers winning 212x their stake.
There was a heartwarming tennis story at the weekend as Valentin Vacherot defeated his cousin Arthur Rinderknech to secure the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. The world number 242 had consistently overcome the odds and perhaps the biggest upset came in the semi-final when he beat Serbian great Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic was 1/10 to beat the Monegasque world number 204 but struggled with an issue in his left glute as he crashed out 6-3, 6-4. It was the first time Vacherot had even played against a player ranked inside the top five in the world and he was visibly emotional after despatching one of the modern-day greats.
There have been some big winning bets for punters who have sided with Vacherot throughout the tournament and Saturday’s shock was no exception. On our Supremacy tennis spread betting market, Djokovic was 12.5-15.5 favourite (ten points awarded for winning the match, five points given for every set won by) before play in China’s biggest city.
However, a straight set victory for the outsider left the spread to settle at -20 as sellers landed a big winning bet of 32.5x their stake.
For cricket spread betting fans, the Ashes is looming large on the horizon, but there is plenty of Test cricket being played across the world at the minute, with Pakistan currently hosting South Africa in Lahore. The Proteas are in the early stages of defending their World Test Championship crown and they got the current match off to the best possible start when Abdullah Shafique fell with just two runs on the home scoreboard.
It was Kagiso Rabada who took the opening wicket and it was a great start for those who had sold the fall of Pakistan’s 1st wicket at 41-46. With the market settling at just 2, those sellers came away with a win of 39x their stake.
